Architecture

Most of the artfully designed King’s Wharf buildings will incorporate terraced style slopes towards the water in a manner that brings to mind both ocean waves and the ships that sail on the Harbour.

On-ground and above-ground landscaping throughout the site will help set the stage for King’s Wharf status as a “destination” community.

A modern marina complex will host sailboats and pleasure craft for residents and visitors.

A Historical Centre is being proposed to help celebrate Dartmouth’s cultural heritage. Also being considered is a university campus extension along with a central "open air − green space − market" for public events.

A sweeping boardwalk will flow across the King's Wharf waterfront and tie into Alderney Gate with future plans to continue it along the remainder of Dartmouth Cove.

The entire site will be accessible to the public, with an emphasis on promoting waterfront interaction.

The proposed architectural design complies with all the rules outlined in the HRM Regional Plan. This ensures King’s Wharf will enrich, not detract from its Downtown Dartmouth setting.
